Kolkata Thunderbolts, the champions of Rupay Prime Volleyball League in its inaugural season (2022), booked their spot in the semi final of the elite volleyball championship of India on Sunday, February 27th, beating Chennai Blitz.
The Kolkata-based franchize of the volleyball team prevailed over their Chennai counterparts by 4-1 (15-12, 15-9, 15-14, 15-13, 10-15) at the regional Sports Centre, Kochi. Vinit Kumar of Kolkata, was named the player of the match for his scintillating performance in the encounter.
Vinitโs lethal spikes, combined with Jose Verdi and Cody Caldwellโs superior defensive blocks, helped the Kolkata Thunderbolts ease past the Blitz and book the last four spot for the second successive season. In another encounter scheduled to be held today, February 28th, two evenly poised teams Bengaluru Torpedoes and Culicut Heroes, are to lock horns with each other, aiming for a playoff spot.
The final of the Rupay Prime Volleyball League is scheduled to be held on March 5th.
