The left-wing Palestinian resistance has slammed the US and extended its solidarity to Venezuela, after Washington announced a reward of $50m for information leading to the arrest of President Nicolás Maduro, accusing him of running a narcotics cartel.
The Popular Front for the Liberation of Palestine (PFLP) said it condemns the systematic US incitement against the Venezuelan president, “which targets Venezuela’s stability and its revolutionary, anti-imperialist stance.”
In a statement issued on Saturday, the PFLP slammed the US government for its “escalation against Venezuelan President Nicolás Maduro,” criticising its reward of $50m, along with the accusations.
The left-wing Palestinian resistance organisation said these developments regarding Venezuela “reflect the aggressive nature of the US and its cheap imperialist propaganda tools.”
“This move cannot be isolated from a long series of Washington’s attempts to overthrow the revolutionary regime in Venezuela since the era of the late internationalist leader Hugo Chavez. These attempts aim to subjugate the country and break the free will of its people. For years, Venezuela has been subjected to a stifling economic blockade, systematic political and media campaigns, failed soft coups, and attempts to incite internal dissent through US-funded and directed far-right tools,” the Marxist-Leninist resistance organisation said.
Earlier, US Secretary of State Marco Rubio issued threats against Mr Maduro and the Venezuelan government. The Department of State said it has “sanctioned Cartel de los Soles as a terrorist group.”

In a post on X (formerly Twitter), the US Department of State wrote: “Run by the corrupt & contemptable Nicolás Maduro, it is responsible for trafficking drugs into the U.S. Help us take down Maduro and his cronies Diosdado Cabello Rondón & Vladimir Padrino López (sic).”

Highlighting this, the PFLP said that it “believes that the essence of this campaign lies in Venezuela’s refusal to submit to American dictates, its adherence to its national sovereignty and independent choices, and its alignment with the ranks of the peoples fighting against colonialism and imperialism.”
“Under Presidents Chavez and Maduro, Venezuela has been a progressive bastion in Latin America, standing up to the plunder of wealth by transnational corporations, confronting American attempts at hegemony over the region’s resources, and embracing liberation movements, foremost among them the Palestinian revolution. It was among the first countries to adopt a strong stance against the ongoing Zionist war of extermination in Gaza and the direct American partnership therein,” the PFLP said, highlighting the Venezuelan role in supporting the cause of a free Palestine.
Mr Maduro’s government has been a staunch opponent of Israel’s Gaza aggression and has been advocating the end to the genocidal war in the besieged Strip. Palestinian resistance organisations enjoy support from Venezuela and on international platforms, including the United Nations, Venezuela stand in solidarity with the Palestinian cause.
This makes it imperative for the Palestinian resistance, especially the left, to support Venezuela and oppose the American scheme to overthrow Mr Maduro through a coup.
“We, in the Popular Front, express our full solidarity with President Maduro and the Venezuelan people in confronting these malicious imperialist campaigns. We affirm that the targeting of Venezuela today is closely linked to its principled positions in support of the Palestinian cause, its rejection of the Zionist crimes of genocide against our people, and its exposure of them to the world in international forums,” the PFLP reiterated.
Apart from condemning the US, the left-wing Palestinian resistance has also called upon the people of the world to oppose American conspiracies against Venezuela and Mr Maduro.
“We call on all global liberation forces and the free people of the world to unite their efforts in confronting the blockade imposed on Venezuela, rejecting all forms of interference in its internal affairs, and defending its sovereignty and the right of its people to freely choose their leadership and future,” the organisation added.
