Congress chief demands sacking of Manipur CM

Indian National Congress (INC) chief Mallikarjun Kharge questioned Prime Minister Narendra Modi‘s indifference towards the ethnic violence in Manipur on Monday, June 26th.

The INC chief tweeted that if Modi is really concerned about Manipur then the first thing he should do is dismiss Chief Minister N Biren Singh.

“If Modiji is really concerned about Manipur, then the first thing he should do is sack his chief minister”, Kharge tweeted.

No amount of “propaganda” by the  Bharatiya Janata Party’s (BJP) government can disguise its “abject failure” to address the Manipur crisis, according to Kharge.

Union Home Minister Amit Shah has finally spoken to Modi about the situation in the northeastern state, which has been witnessing a spell of ethnic clashes since May 3rd, Kharge alleged adding, “For the last 55 days, Modiji did not say a word on Manipur. Every Indian is waiting for him to speak.”

The conflict in Manipur has reportedly left 98 dead and 300 seriously wounded until June 14th. Thousands have been reportedly displaced and a large number of people from the valley-based dominant Meitei community and hill-based Kuki tribe are now living in shelters built by the government to evade violence in the state.
