Violence in Maharashtra’s Chhatrapati Sambhaji Nagar (rechristened from Aurangabad) took place on Wednesday, March 29th, as a police team was attacked and several vehicles of the police were set on fire amid a clash between two groups.

The communal tension grew in Kiradpura of Sambhaji Nagar on Wednesday night when two groups started pelting stones at each other after an intense argument. After the incident took place, a heavy police force was called to the spot to avert further escalation. According to the police, the situation is under control now, though any arrest regarding the violence is yet to be made.

Earlier on Tuesday, March 28th, a separate clash broke out in Paldhi in Maharashtra’s Jalgaon district between two groups over allegedly playing DJ music in front of a local mosque. Notably, Ram Navami was scheduled to be observed on Thursday, March 30th, across India.

After these consecutive clashes, Sanjay Raut, a Member of Parliament (MP) of Shiv Sena (Uddhav Thackeray), accused the Eknath Shinde-Devendra Fadnavis government of Maharashtra of fomenting riots for its political gain. Raut also alleged that the Shinde-Fadnavis government has the malintent to create disturbance and communal disharmony in the state, which is a part of their politics.
