Resistance supports Gaza peace deal, ceasefire

Signing the Gaza peace deal is not a loss for Palestine, but it shows the steadfastness of the people and the fighters, resistance organisations claimed.

The Palestinian resistance forces have supported signing Trump's Gaza peace deal, lauding the people's steadfastness and struggle.

After Hamas signed the first phase of US President Donald Trump’s proposed Gaza peace deal early morning of Thursday (Palestine time), other resistance forces, from the Islamic, left, and nationalist camps, also started supporting the move, while remaining highly apprehensive about the outcome of the deal.

The peace deal, guaranteed by neighbouring Arab countries, ends Israel’s genocidal attacks on Gaza and allows the entry of up to 400 aid trucks daily, in return for exchanging prisoners held by Hamas against hostages taken by the Israeli occupation forces.

For the Palestinian forces, supporting Hamas in signing Mr Trump’s Gaza peace deal was a necessity to stop the bloodbath and loss of lives. According to the Palestinian Health Ministry, over 67,000 Palestinians have been killed in Gaza alone between October 2023 and September 2025.

However, considering Israel’s blatant violation of the January 2025 ceasefire deal on March 18th, apprehensions regarding its fulfilment of its commitments remain high. Especially, after the far-right minister, Bezalel Smotrich, claimed that he expects Israel to resume the attacks following the exchange of prisoners.

Moreover, there are a few narratives that target the Palestinian morale and that of its supporters worldwide. While one of them claims that the peace deal is a gift from Mr Trump to the Palestinian people, the other one projects it as the resistance’s defeat and Israel’s victory.

The Palestinian resistance dismisses both views and asserts that the agreement is a victory for them, as Israel failed to obliterate them even after two years of its massive genocidal campaigns, and Mr Trump failed to evict Palestinians from Gaza to turn it into a real estate paradise.

Resistance calls Gaza peace deal fruit of people’s steadfastness

“The agreement reached on a ceasefire and prisoner exchange with the zionist enemy was not a gift from anyone,” claimed the Palestinian Islamic Jihad (PIJ). It claimed it’s a result of sacrifices made by the Palestinians and the resilience of the resistance.

“Although we do not deny the Arab and international efforts, we emphasise the immense sacrifices made by our Palestinian people, and the courage and valour of their fighters in the field who confronted the enemy forces and showed unprecedented bravery in combat; without this, the resistance would not have been able to stand as a strong equal at the negotiating table,” the PIJ said.

The PIJ’s military wing, Saraya Al-Quds, has regularly confronted the Israeli forces and attacked them with mortars and explosives, delivering heavy blows.

Similarly, the Mujahideen Movement also lauded the people’s role behind the agreement.

“The achievement of the ceasefire and the exchange of prisoners with the enemy is the fruit of the steadfastness, patience, and sacrifices of our proud Palestinian people in the Gaza Strip, who thwarted the plans for displacement and the liquidation of the cause, and stood firm against two years of genocide and ethnic cleansing crimes,” the Mujahideen Movement said in its statement.

Echoing them, the left-wing Democratic Front for the Liberation of Palestine (DFLP) said, “The Democratic Front affirmed its confidence that the ‘israeli’ side’s submission to the ceasefire decision in the Strip would not have happened were it not for the legendary steadfastness of our people, their resilience, cohesion, and rejection of all calls for surrender and submission.”

The DFLP’s military wing, the National Resistance Brigades, had engaged the Israeli occupation forces on several occasions in the Gaza Strip following the genocidal attacks.

Similarly, another left-wing resistance organisation, the Popular Front for the Liberation of Palestine (PFLP), said, “This is the fruit of the legendary steadfastness demonstrated by Gaza and our Palestinian people, the immense sacrifices of the martyrs, the wounded, and the prisoners, and the resilience of the valiant resistance that confronted the aggression until the last moment.”

The PFLP’s military wing, the Abu Ali Mustafa Brigades, launched several attacks on the Israeli occupation in recent times, especially in collaboration with Hamas’s Martyr Izz El-Din Al-Qassam Brigades.

The Popular Resistance Committees (PRC) also echoed similar views. In its statement, the PRC said, “The agreement reached through the efforts of the Egyptian, Qatari, and Turkish mediators and brothers to stop the aggression, the holocaust, and the zionist genocide in the Gaza Strip came as a fruit and result of the legendary steadfastness of Gaza and its resisting people and their great sacrifices after two years of aggression.”

Hamas signs Trump’s Gaza peace deal as equal partner

While Mr Trump’s Gaza peace deal has its flaws, especially the attempt to colonise the Palestinian people under an international super authority, with a prominent pro-Zionist war criminal like Tony Blair at the helm, it also ends Israel’s military domination of the enclave and its reconstruction with Arab states standing as guarantors.

The fact that despite Israel’s massive attacks that killed scores of Palestinians, Hamas and other Palestinian resistance forces managed to not only survive but also force Tel Aviv to negotiate with them, is a big achievement after two years of an uneven conflict.

Highlighting this, the Mujahideen Movement said, “We commend the bravery and sacrifices of the resistance factions who stood firm and inflicted heavy losses on the enemy, defending their people and their cause. Their struggle and the steadfastness of our people were an essential pillar in achieving this agreement, by the grace of God.”

No to surrender

The resistance forces have dismissed that the agreement is any form of surrender to Israel.

“The unified stance and response of the resistance factions, and their refusal to submit to the equation of genocide or surrender, foiled all the plans of the zionist enemy. Despite the atrocity of the crimes, the horror of the destruction, and the humanitarian tragedy, the enemy and those who support it failed to uproot our people and displace them from their land, and our people remained steadfast and stationed on their land,” the PRC said.

“The current agreement broke the zionist ‘noes’ and goals. It is the possible option under the current circumstances, and its success is linked to the occupation’s commitment and clear American guarantees that prevent procrastination,” the PFLP added.

The DFLP, on the other hand, stressed, “The Democratic Front considered the ceasefire an important step towards stopping the war and imposing the complete withdrawal of the “israeli” enemy, and beginning the healing of wounds, including opening the crossings and providing immediate, unconditional supplies to the Strip of all vital, living, and humanitarian necessities and needs, and providing the conditions for launching a reconstruction project for the Strip in cooperation with sisterly Egypt and the rest of the Arab countries.”

Future plans for Gaza

The left-wing organisations—DFLP and the PFLP—have stressed on cautiously navigating the treacherous landscape while heading towards the future.

The DFLP “stressed the necessity of confronting the second chapter of” Mr Trump’s Gaza peace plan with a “unified Palestinian national stance that thwarts all projects aimed at separating the Strip from the West Bank, and dissipating its national identity and great sacrifices made during two years of steadfastness and confrontation,” the organisation said.

The DFLP, which is a core constituent of the Palestine Liberation Organization (PLO) and opposes the line adopted by Mahmoud Abbas, stressed the organisation’s role in unitedly negotiating with the Israelis.

“This requires an urgent call for a comprehensive Palestinian national dialogue, including the secretaries-general, members of the Executive Committee, the presidency of the National Council, and national figures, to agree on a unified national plan for confrontation in the next phase, and to form a unified Palestinian delegation for negotiations similar to 2014, which would enable the achievement of the desired goals that guarantee the unity of the land of the State of Palestine, thwart the mandatory alternatives, and simultaneously guarantee the legitimate national rights of our people to freedom, independence, and the right of return within the framework of the PLO, the sole legitimate representative of our people,” the left-wing organisation said.

“Our goal now is to continue working to end the war of genocide definitively, achieve a comprehensive withdrawal from the Strip, break the siege, and end the suffering of our people,” the PFLP said.

“We are working with all factions, under Egyptian auspices, toward a comprehensive national dialogue that opens a new horizon for building a unified strategy based on the constants and historical rights of our people to confront the next stage, and to rebuild our national institutions based on partnership to face all challenges,” the PFLP highlighted.

The Marxist-Leninist organisation said it opposes any foreign occupation or guardianship of Palestine.

“We reject foreign guardianship and affirm that the administration of Gaza must be purely Palestinian, with Arab and international participation in reconstruction and recovery,” the PFLP asserted.

“The world today stands by us and supports our right to freedom and self-determination. Global action and the pursuit of the occupation and its leaders must continue even after reaching a ceasefire agreement, so that Palestine remains alive in the conscience of the world until the occupation is removed,” it added.
