The Palestinian resistance continues to hit back at Israeli forces in the besieged Gaza Strip.
Following the attacks on the Israel Defense Forces’ (IDF) troops on Monday, the Palestinian resistance forces have carried out attacks on IDF, killing one soldier and wounding others on Tuesday, July 2nd, in Gaza.
At the same time, Israeli attacks on Gaza have killed at least 67 people on Tuesday, according to Palestinian sources, between dawn and evening.
The death toll rises as Israeli media reports that the IDF has turned shooting unarmed Palestinians seeking aid into a game.
Palestinian resistance attacks against Israeli forces
According to Hamas’s military wing, Martyr Izz El-Din Al-Qassam Brigades, their soldiers had targeted an Israeli Merkava tank on Tuesday, using powerful ground explosives.
The Al-Qassam Brigades claimed that they carried out the attack on the Israeli supply line in the Zana area, east of Khan Younis, in the southern Gaza Strip.
Due to the Palestinian resistance attack, several Israeli troops have also suffered injuries.
Meanwhile, the Palestinian Islamic Jihad’s paramilitary wing, Saraya Al-Quds, has taken credit for an attack on IDF troops in the Al-Huda Square, east of the Shuja’iyya neighbourhood in Gaza.
A Saraya Al-Quds officer informed resistance media that they “carried out a sophisticated, complex operation targeting dozens of soldiers and a convoy of zionist enemy vehicles” in the Al-Huda Square.
“The complex operation began with the detonation of a minefield against the invading zionist vehicles, forcing soldiers and officers to frantically enter the surrounding houses,” the officer informed.
“Our brave fighters targeted the forces entrenched inside the houses with a guided missile, followed by a TBG anti-fortification missile,” he further added.
“We surprised the targeted forces and engaged them at very close range with light and medium weapons. By the grace and power of Allah Almighty, we killed and wounded the crews of the targeted vehicles, officers, and soldiers,” the officer asserted.
There has been no confirmation from the Israeli side regarding this attack.
The Saraya Al-Quds has also claimed to have seized an Israeli “EVO Max” reconnaissance drone in Khan Younis while it was carrying out surveillance.
Trump pushes for Hamas-Israel ceasefire
These renewed Palestinian resistance attacks on Israeli forces come at a time when US President Donald Trump is pushing his Arab allies, like Egypt and Qatar, to make Hamas accept a 60-day ceasefire deal with Israel.
Hamas, which had earlier shown reluctance to accept the deal as it favours Israel and provides it with a leeway to violate the deal and attack Gaza, has now shown signs of reconciliation.
In a statement issued on Tuesday, Hamas addressed the negotiators—Egypt and Qatar—as “brothers” and said it is acting with utmost responsibility and building consensus on the proposals.
“The mediator brothers are exerting intensive efforts to bridge the gap between the parties, reach a framework agreement, and begin a serious round of negotiations,” the Hamas spokesperson said.
“We are acting with utmost responsibility and conducting national consultations to discuss the proposals we have received from the mediators, in order to reach an agreement that guarantees an end to the aggression, achieves withdrawal, and urgently provides relief to our people in the Gaza Strip,” the statement further added.
While the ceasefire agreement is negotiated, the realities in Gaza remain unchanged, where, to avenge the large-scale massacres, the Palestinian resistance forces intensify attacks on the Israeli occupation.
It remains to be seen whether the ceasefire deal can break the cycle of violence and provide relief to the entrapped Gazans.
