As Israel intensifies its attacks on Gaza, targeting civilians across the besieged strip, the Palestinian forces have also intensified their resistance. As Tel Aviv threatens to violate the fragile ceasefire with Iran, amid the bloodshed in Gaza, Yemen has also resumed striking various targets across Israel.
On Tuesday, July 1st, the Yemeni Armed Forces announced their latest missile and drone strikes on Israel.
The Yemeni Armed Forces claimed the latest attacks have been carried out “In support of the oppressed Palestinian people and its fighters, and in response to the crime of genocide being committed by the zionist enemy against our brothers in the Gaza Strip”.
The Yemenis claimed that their missile force “carried out a qualitative military operation targeting Lydd Airport in the occupied Yafa area with a hypersonic ballistic missile of the type ‘Palestine 2’.”
“By the grace of Allah, the operation achieved its goal successfully, causing millions of the usurping zionist settlers to flee to shelters and bringing airport movement to a halt,” the spokesperson claimed.
Sirens rang across the occupied territories, especially in Tel Aviv, Haifa, Jerusalem, and Ashdod, following the missile attack.
The Israel Defense Forces (IDF) acknowledged the attack from Yemen.

However, the IDF didn’t state whether it managed to intercept the missile or whether it had successfully hit the target, the Ben Gurion Airport.
Meanwhile, the Yemeni Armed Forces also claimed that their drone air force has carried out three military operations targeting “three sensitive sites belonging to the ‘israeli’ enemy in the areas of Yafa, Asqalan, and Umm Al-Rashrash in occupied Palestine, using three drones.”
The outcome of these attacks remains unknown.
Yemen consistently attacks Israel, damages negligible
Yemen has been conducting regular strikes targeting Israel, but its missiles seldom hit targets, bypassing Israeli air defence.
Moreover, Yemeni strikes have failed to hit crucial Israeli infrastructure and its military installations.
There is no confirmed news regarding Yemen’s relentless missile strikes inflicting serious damage.
It appears that Iran will use the Yemenis to launch more attacks at Israel to keep its air defence busy in the long run, as the running cost of the Iron Dome system becomes a burden on the Israeli state, which runs on American aid.
It has been claimed that Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu had pushed for a ceasefire with Iran frantically as the Iron Dome system had been breached, and it became hard for Israel to stockpile enough missiles to counter the incoming attacks from Tehran.
Palestinian resistance hits Israel
Apart from the Yemeni Armed Forces, the Palestinian resistance in Gaza has also intensified attacks on the Israeli occupation.
In a statement issued on Tuesday, July 1st, Saraya Al-Quds, the military wing of the Islamist resistance force Palestinian Islamic Jihad (PIJ), claimed that it has launched a joint attack on IDF troops in the Gaza Strip along with Hamas’s military wing, Martyr Izz El-Din Al-Qassam Brigades.
“In conjunction with Al-Qassam Brigades, we shelled a gathering of zionist soldiers and vehicles east of Kaf Al-Qarara, north of Khan Younis, with several mortar shells,” Saraya Al-Quds announced.
“Our fighters detonated a ‘Sadmiyah’ bomb targeting a zionist military vehicle that had penetrated the vicinity of Highway 5, north of Khan Younis,” the statement further added.
These operations are considered as a part of the Operation Al-Aqsa Flood that Hamas had launched on October 7th 2023.
Meanwhile, the Al-Qassam Brigades bombarded the settlements of “Nir Yitzhak” and “Miftahim” with a barrage of “Q20” rockets from “an area where enemy vehicles are located, north of Khan Younis, in the southern Gaza Strip”, the Hamas outfit said.
The casualties on the Israeli side have not been disclosed.
Yemen to continue strikes against Israel
As the Palestinian resistance keeps attacking the IDF, Yemen has reiterated that its actions against Israel will continue.
“The Yemeni Armed Forces, with reliance upon Allah and trust in Him, continue their supporting operations in rejection of the crimes of genocide against our brothers in Gaza and in affirmation that this Ummah will not abandon its duties toward the oppressed Palestinian people,” the Yemeni spokesperson said.
“We continue until the aggression on Gaza stops and the siege on it is lifted,” the spokesperson reiterated.
The Palestinians and Yemeni resistance have displayed immense resilience despite facing fierce IDF attacks.
Despite American attacks on it, Yemeni Armed Forces didn’t retreat from supporting Palestine, and their siege of the Red Sea near the Gulf of Aden continues to cause global supply chain disruption and increases shipping costs for ships linked with Israel and its partners.
It remains to be seen how the Palestinian resistance continues to resist the Israeli aggression on Gaza and whether Yemen can deliver stronger blows to its enemy to walk the talk.
