The left-wing Palestinian resistance organisation, Popular Front for the Liberation of Palestine (PFLP), has organised a mass demonstration on Monday morning at the gate of Al-Shifa Hospital in Gaza City, to draw the attention of the global community towards the plight of the people of the besieged enclave facing incessant Israeli attacks.

In a statement issued on Monday afternoon, the PFLP claimed dozens of its “leaders and cadres, along with a large number of citizens, dignitaries, national and community figures, and media professionals”, have attended its demonstration at the Al-Shifa Hospital in Gaza City.

The PFLP claimed that the event is a part of its continuous popular campaigns that attempt to pressurise the international community to act and stop the ongoing “genocide and starvation war being waged against the besieged Gaza Strip for more than 22 months”.

“Hospitals, shelters, and homes have become declared targets for Israeli warplanes, while the world stands helpless or complicit in silence,” the Marxist-Leninist organisation stated.

During the demonstration, which was organised amid escalating Israeli attacks, the participants raised slogans against the Zionist state and the silence of the international community.

This programme follows the latest Israeli attack on a Gaza hospital, which prompted the PFLP to oppose the targeting of the medical facilities and patients.

The PFLP raised slogans like “Stop the holocaust in Gaza now”; “Civilians are in the crosshairs of all types of weapons;” “Health is a human right”; “No to killing patients in hospitals”; “We are not numbers”; “The children of Gaza are not targets;” and “Where is the world’s conscience when it comes to the targeting of civilians?”

Najib al-Majdalawi, a PFLP Central Committee member, addressed the gathering.

In his speech, Mr Majdalawi asserted that what is happening in Gaza represents “the largest documented war crime in modern times.”

The PFLP leader pointed out that the occupation continues to wage a systematic war of extermination targeting more than two million people living under siege, in conditions that are “the harshest and most horrific since the Nazi camps.”

Mr Majdalawi further said, “Hospitals are being bombed, doctors are being targeted, patients are being left to die, and the world is content with cold statements. The children, women, and elderly of Gaza are not numbers, but innocent lives that deserve life and dignity.”

He emphasised that these activities are part of an “organised political and popular movement” aimed at strengthening the Palestinian national position, making Gaza’s voice heard by the world, and breaking the media blockade that the occupation is trying to impose.

According to the PFLP’s statement, the official’s speech at the event focused on a set of central messages, emphasising that Gaza is not alone, and that “the Palestinian people stand united in the face of the aggression”.

The PFLP’s mass demonstration at the Al-Shifa Hospital called on solidarity activists in world capitals to escalate pressure on their governments and institutions.

It also helped expose the US-Israeli partnership, while holding Washington directly responsible for the crimes committed against Palestinian civilians in Gaza.

Moreover, the PFLP’s mass demonstration at the Al-Shifa Hospital also held the international community accountable for its legal and moral responsibilities per international conventions.

The demonstrators demanded that the leaders of the occupation be referred to international courts and sanctioned.

Meanwhile, during the PFLP’s mass demonstration at the entrance of Al-Shifa Hospital, Mr Majdalawi praised Egypt’s efforts to deliver relief aid and break the siege.

According to the left-wing organisation, he called on “Arab and Islamic countries to intensify their political efforts and impose economic pressure on the occupation.”

During his speech, the Palestinian leader called upon the people of the free world, saying, “Your voices, demonstrations, and boycotts make a difference. Continue to expose the crimes of the occupation and convey the truth without ceasing, for every act of solidarity strengthens Gaza’s steadfastness and weakens the occupation’s ability to continue its crimes.”

While concluding, the leader emphasised that “Gaza will remain alive and its people will not be broken,” and that the blood of those killed and the steadfastness of the wounded Palestinians will remain “a trust and a beacon on the path to freedom and justice.”

“It’s worth noting that this event is the first in a series of events the Front intends to organise in various regions, displacement centres, and camps, as part of its efforts to deliver Gaza’s cry to every home and media outlet around the world,” the PFLP stated following the demonstration at the Al-Shifa Hospital.
