The Popular Front for the Liberation of Palestine (PFLP) has issued a statement on the second anniversary of the October 7th military action, which opened the floodgates to Israelโs genocidal aggression on Gaza. The left-wing resistance association frames the Operation Al-Aqsa Flood anniversary not as a moment of regret but as a vindication of armed resistance.
Resounding cry against occupation
The PFLP recalls October 7th 2023, as a pivotal moment for Gaza and Palestine. On that day, the resistance affirmed its centrality to Palestinian existence. It was a resounding cry against injustice and occupation brutality. The operation, the PFLP argues, declared to the world that Palestinians remain alive, steadfast in their land and committed to freedom.
The group describes the attacks as a strategic turning point. They changed the conflictโs equations. They placed the Palestinian cause at the centre of global consciousness. The operation proved that free will can shake arrogant power structures, regardless of technical superiority. It exposed the fragility of the Zionist entity when facing fighters with solid resolve and belief in their cause, the Marxist-Leninist organisation said.
The battle transcended its military dimension. It confirmed that resistance is a constant approach. People who cling to their rights can break the boundaries of fear and remake history.
Gaza faces systematic genocide
The Zionist response, the PFLP states, came with direct American and Western support. It was not merely a military attack, the left-wing organisation says. It embodied organised state terrorism as a colonial tool. In Gaza, the world witnessed systematic genocide unseen for decades, not only in brutality but in the colonial mentality behind it.
The statement describes how famine became a weapon. The blockade served as collective suffocation. The destruction of vital infrastructure formed part of an organised genocidal project. Hospitals, schools, universities, water and electricity sources fell under bombardment. Homes were flattened over residentsโ heads. Basic necessities vanished. Hundreds of thousands faced repeated displacement.
This reveals the colonial systemโs true face, according to the PFLP. It is a system that views Palestinian life as merely an obstacle to domination. It represents a regime determined to annihilate the national will.
Regional resistance and global solidarity
The joining of resistance forces in Lebanon, Yemen, Iran and Iraq to the Gaza support front reflects shared destiny and deep solidarity. Palestine does not stand alone in confronting occupation. The Lebanese and Yemeni resistance have demonstrated resilience. Despite enormous sacrifices, the path of resistance proves to be the route to uniting Arab peoples, restoring dignity and building a free future.
The unprecedented global movement against occupation has proven that human consciousness has begun to regain its moral compass regarding Palestine. The Palestinian flag now waves across the globe. Free people in capitals, squares and streets carry it during massive marches. This represented a great symbolic achievement. It restored respect for a cause the occupation had tried to obliterate for decades.
Meanwhile, the Zionist entity has become a pariah. It stands as a renegade against international law and human conscience. Popular anger and growing moral isolation besiege it. This exposes the fragility of its narrative and the falsity of its claims to democracy.
PFLPโs eight-point declaration
The PFLP affirms several positions on this anniversary. The group salutes the heroic martyrs, especially leaders and fighters in Gaza, the West Bank and across all battlefields. Their blood mingled to affirm Gazaโs steadfastness. The PFLP salutes prisoners and wounded, affirming that their sacrifices remain immortal.
The October 7th operation marked an important milestone in the ongoing struggle since Palestineโs occupation. It was a natural response to ongoing crimes in Gaza, the West Bank and Jerusalem. It responded to the blockade, settlement construction and Judaisation. To those who portray this operation as the conflictโs beginning, the PFLP reminds them that occupation crimes have not ceased since Palestineโs occupation until today.
The PFLPโs priorities focus on reaching an agreement for an immediate and comprehensive ceasefire. This includes lifting the blockade, allowing aid to enter and enabling reconstruction. These are firm demands that the group will address responsibly and flexibly to end the suffering.
The statement places responsibility on the US administration for any attempts to thwart negotiations or continue the war. This requires Arab and international pressure and continued global action to prevent any reversal of the agreement at any stage.
The group rejects foreign mandates. It emphasises that the Gaza Strip administration is an internal Palestinian affair. An agreement has been reached, under Egyptian auspices, on a temporary administrative committee of technocrats. This arrangement lasts until a national unity government forms to assume responsibilities in the West Bank and Gaza.
The PFLP affirms the Palestinian peopleโs right to legitimate resistance in all forms. Armed resistance remains essential. The necessity of escalating resistance in the West Bank stands clear. This confronts annexation plans, settlement and Judaisation policies, and the occupationโs attempts to resolve the conflict.
The group calls for a central Arab and Islamic position to consolidate a comprehensive cessation of the war. This capitalises on all Arab and Islamic strengths. It activates the role of the masses and free people. It confronts all forms of normalisation with the occupation.
Finally, the PFLP calls for continued global action to pressure the occupation and its supporters to stop the Gaza genocide. This includes holding war criminals accountable internationally, led by Benjamin Netanyahu. It demands imposing deterrent measures to end the occupation.
The statement reveals how the PFLP views the Gaza conflictโs trajectory. Two years into Israelโs Gaza campaign, the faction remains committed to armed struggle. It sees October 7th not as a catastrophe but as a vindication. For the PFLP, resistance defines Palestinian identity. It offers the only path to liberation.
